How can I get more life from my water heater ?

Well you can start with the pressure relief valve;

  • Simply pull the pressure relief valve every six months

  • It may last more than 10 years if taken care of properly

  • Flushing out any sediment will ensure your valve is working

  • This will help keep your tank from exploding

  • Pressure relief valves should also be replaced every five years

And finally, also have us replace the sacrificial anode inside your tank.

It's a luxury we all love :

  • Coming home mud-covered from a footy match

  • Or just needing some relaxation after a long day stuck in the office

  • Few things feel better than hopping into a hot shower

  • Whatever type, all leading brands, Rheem, Rennai, Dux and Bosch,

  • Few things are worth taking care of more than your hot water heater

Going on holidays ?

It's a shame how many holidays are interrupted by a ring from a neighbour or cleaner saying "I'm sorry, but the hot water heater has leaked. It's made a mess. Could you come home? "

Avoid  holiday interruption !

So easy to avoid if you follow three simple steps before you go away :

  • Close the tap to any hot water tank to shut the hot water to your home.

  • Switch off the hot water power supply at the fuse box, or shut off the gas

  • Lift up the pressure relief valve to relieve the pressure on the system

And when you come home just remember to carry out the same steps in reverse order. It'll only take a minute and it could save you a distressed call to the plumber.

Summary

Flush the pressure relief valve on your hot water heater every six months. It's the valve at the top of the tank with a lever attached.

Shut off your hot water system when you go on holidays. It may save you a call to the plumber.
